Sacramental Programme

The Sacramental Programme

The Sacramental Programme consists of a series of meetings and celebrations for parents and their children (Year 4 or older in some cases) in preparation for receiving the sacraments of Reconciliation and First Holy Communion.

The Sacramental Programme is the means by which baptised children can complete their journey into full membership of the Catholic Church.

Baptism is the first of the three Sacraments of Initiation.

The programme begins with the children presenting themselves to God and the parish, to say that they are now choosing to continue on their sacramental journey. At the sacrament of Baptism, parents made the decision for them, and now it is up to them. In Year 4 they will celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation (Confession) for the first time, and later receive First Holy Communion.

Each part of the programme is important, as it forms a part of the child's experience of God which will remain with them for the rest of their lives.  We hope this will be a very positive experience, and we trust that parents will support them every step of the journey.

The ceremony was a beautiful occasion, attended by family members and parishioners, who came together to support and celebrate our pupils on this special day. We are proud of our Year 4 pupils and look forward to seeing them continue their journey of faith within our school community.
