Changes to the start of the school day
From Tuesday 3rd September we will be changing the way that the children come into school in the mornings.
All classrooms will be open from 8.45 am – with class teachers present.
From 8.45am we are requesting that children come directly into school as they arrive. There will no longer be a requirement to wait on the playground for the whistle to be blown and to line up.
Whilst school’s official start time will remain 8.55 am, this new system will allow for swifter ‘drop offs’ (possibly easing congestion on the Crescent), less busy cloakrooms, a calmer start to the day and also create an extra opportunity in the school day for children to read and choose books.
I will be available if you need a message giving to your child’s class teacher. However we would ask, if possible, for lengthy conversations to take place at another time or routine messages to go via the school office.
The children will enter through the doors as follows:
Reception To be dropped off at the gate leading into their outdoor area.
Year 1 To be dropped off at the KS1 external door (where they currently enter)
Year 2 To be dropped off at the KS1 external door
Year 3-6 To enter through the Y3 external door
Under no circumstances must parents/carers enter the building via these doors, for safeguarding reasons
Please endeavour to ensure that your child arrives at school on time. Registration will take place at 8.55am prompt and lessons will then commence immediately. If your child is consistently late then they miss important learning and will also be referred to the Blackburn with Darwen Inclusion Officer, which could result in parents/carers being issued with a fine.
