As a school we are aiming for our whole school attendance to be higher than 95%. Please send your child into school every day. If they say they feel unwell, please check the NHS guidance for keeping them off school (this can be found on our website under Key Information, Attendance, Absence and how to report them)

Punctuality/Lateness

Punctuality/Lateness

Arriving at school every day at the correct time is critical for a child’s learning and well-being, and establishes the necessity of being punctual ready for High School and also a working environment.

At Holy Souls morning registration is 8.45am.  We do have what is called a ‘soft start’, when we open our doors at 8.40am to allow children to enter school earlier.

When a child arrives late, after registration has been taken in a morning, but before the register is closed, they will be marked on the register as late.   Disturbing the class can cause your child anxiety as they enter the classroom, which will impact them on their own learning and in turn, they could start to worry each morning if they are going to be late.  Being late in a morning means missing important learning time.

If a child arrives in school after the register is closed, without good reason, it will be marked as an unauthorised absence on the register.

All latecomers should enter school through the main school entrance and parents/carers MUST sign their child in, with a reason for their lateness, on the Inventry system at the office.
